Other games I was following were in NCAA football and as per usual, soccer.

University of Texas 26-31 Oklahoma

The local college here in Austin I've been following since we moved, and also began following my own alma mater, the University of Southern Mississippi, around the same time, despite the fact I really hadn't followed college sports ever, including when I was actually in college. Game days for me were a time to do things in town where it was normally slightly more crowded, and thereby less crowded on game day. It's been a rough year for both teams, but it's early on, there's time yet.

In the world of soccer, we had another round of the Euro 16 qualifiers. Of interest today:

Republic of Ireland 7-0 Gibralter

I've been fascinated with the story of Gibralter entering into FIFA and making plays in the Euro and the Europa League, neither with much success, but still. Of course, I'm not going to argue with the eventuality of Ireland advancing either. I'm good on that.

MLS side, the games of interest are of course, those that effect the Houston Dynamo for me.

Montreal Impact 2-2 New England Revolution
NY Red Bulls 3-1 Toronto FC
Philadelphia Union 2-3 Columbus Crew

I guess I should emphasize, the Crew and the Red Bulls are both difficult teams, and so if the Dynamo aren't able to climb back on points to get past them, there's a damn good reason. However, this works out well enough (draw on Red Bulls-Toronto would have been better, but eh), as the points gained or not gained from Philly and Toronto will help with tomorrow's rather difficult game for the Dynamo against DC United.
