Chinese Professional Baseball League-Taiwan Series

Lamigo Monkeys 8-3 Chinatrust Brother Elephants

Lamigo wins the Taiwan Series 4-1 after the Elephants took an early lead in this game. It was a pretty exciting game to watch, and one of the most notable things to me is the fans in Taiwan are LOUD. Ladies and gentlemen, your 2014, CPBL Champions, the Lamigo Monkeys!

With the second result here, I'd like to make an observation. The US and Costa Rica both have a set number of seeds granted to the tournament, 4 and 2, respectively. Canada has only 1 btw, and it will be advancing. However, the US only has one team that will move forward into the quarter-finals. Costa Rica will have 3, given that a 3rd Costa Rican team was granted admission when Belize was unable to provide an adequate stadium of play to CONCACAF. That's just kind of ridiculous. I don't think that the MLS teams that were eligible are worse than many of the teams they played. Quite the contrary. I just think the MLS teams, or at least perhaps their front office or management, didn't take the competition serious enough. It works both ways guys. If you don't put forth the effort, why should a viewing audience? I mean, already it's only regulated to web only/soccer specialty channel viewing. People will watch UEFA Champions League OVER league play, but what about our own Champions? What about Costa Ricas, or Mexico? Are they any less interesting? I should think not. If anything, there's been some great games played in this tournament that no one watched. Make them WANT to watch people. Show up.
